Taylor Swift: I love it when people say things to me in public and want to meet me, because I want to meet them! Early on, my manager told me, "If you want to sell
500,000 records, then go out there and meet 500,000 people."

Taylor Swift: (on the song 'Picture to Burn'): Before I sing this song, I always try to tell the audience that I really do try to be a nice person... but if you break my heart, hurt my feelings, or are really mean to me, I'm going to write a song about you. Haha. This song is the perfect example.

Taylor Swift: What I've learned is not to change who you are, because eventually you're going to run out of new things to become.

Taylor Swift: I wish all teenagers can filter through songs instead of turning to drugs and alcohol.

Taylor Swift : When you're singing you can hear the echo of people in the audience singing every single word with you, and that was that big dream that I had for myself. It's happening

Taylor Swift : "In fairy tales, the bad guy is always very easy to spot, the bad guy, is always wearing a black cape, but when you grow up, you realize that prince charming isn’t as easy to find as you thought And the bad guy, is not wearing a black cape, he’s funny and he makes you laugh, and he has perfect hair!"

13. would you subscribe to a magazine?

14. would you buy a new magazine if it was put onto the market?

Main task - Task seven and results (task 8)

QUESTIONNAIRE

1. how old are you?
- 10-15 = 0 people
- 16-21 = 16 people
- 22-27 = 3 people
- other = 1 person
- prefer not to say = 0 people

conclusion: most people that I had given the questionnaire where aged between 16 and 21. this tells me that my target audience should be a little bit lower as it is a pop magazine.

2. What is your gender?
- male = 2 people
- female = 17 people

conclusion: gathering my results up I have discovered that most of my gender are females as my magazine is going to be a pop magazine and the male gender don't really read pop magazines.

3. do you buy music magazines?
- yes = 12 people
- no = 0 people
- sometimes = 7 people

conclusion: out of everything that I have gathered know one that I had given the questionnaire to had answered that they don't buy a music magazine, although seven people sometimes bought magazines, twelve people has answered that they buy music magazines regularly.

4. how often do you buy music magazines?
- monthly = 15 people
- seasonally = 1 person
- weekly = 0 people
- fortnightly = 3 people

conclusion: by my results I have discovered to do my frequency of publication as monthly as that is when most people buy there magazines. There was fifteen people that buys that monthly and 1 person that buys them seasonally and three people that buys them fortnightly.

5. what genre of magazine do you buy the most?
- indie = 6 people
- pop = 8 people
- rock = 1 person
- country = 1 person
- other = 1 person

conclusion: by looking at my research I have found out that I am going to sick with the genre of 'pop' as that is what I got the most votes for. The genre that come in second was the genre 'indie'. pop got eight votes and 'indie' got 6 votes.

6. what 3 words do you think of when i say the words pop?
- girls = 5 people
- pink = 5 people
-- gossip = 1 person
- pretty = 1 person
- fun = 1 person
- candy = 1 person
- lip sync = 1 person
- adidas = 1 person
- young = 1 person
- happy = 3 people
- boys = 4 people
- make up = 3 people
- bubble gum = 1 person
- boy bands = 1 person
- charts = 1 person
- colourful = 1 person
- bright = 1 person
- friends = 1 person
- music = 4 people
- sing = 2 people
- along = 1 person
- coco pops = 2 people
- drink = 3 people
- miley cyrus = 1 person
- smile = 1 person
- words = 1 person
- bubbles = 1 person
- friends = 2 people
- fashion = 1 person
- teenagers = 1 person
- artists = 1 person
- cheesy = 1 person

conclusion: gathering my results I have found that girls and pink have come in the top words with 5 votes each. the next most popular word is boys. this had a total of four votes. by doing this question I had discovered what words my title could include. And what what words to leave out of the title.

7. who is your favourite pop singer or pop band?
- chipmunk = 1 person
- N Dubz = 2 people
- Taylor swift = 3 people
- pussycat dolls = 1 person
- miley cyrus = 1 person
- usher = 1 person
- alexandra burke = 1 person
- jonas brothers = 1 person
- JLS = 1 person
- samantha mumba = 1 person
- basshinter = 1 person
- cheryl cole = 1 person
- beyonce = 1 person
- mcfly = 1 person
- avril lavigne = 1 person
- none acceptable = 1 person

conclusion: By gathering the information on the pop artists that my audience likes Taylor Swift the most, although as I only done 19 people I hadn't had many artists to choose from. from doing this question I had discovered who I could have interviewed or do my double page spread, on.

8. what is your favourite colour?
- pink = 4 people
- blue = 5 people
- orange = 2 people
- yellow = 3 people
- purple = 5 people
- black = 1 person
- white = 0 people

conclusion: by this question I have gathered that the favourite colour out of pink, blue, orange, yellow, purple, black, white was the colour blue and purple. The colour blue got five votes and the colour purple also got five votes. The second favourite was the colour pink. By doing this questionnaire I have worked out that more people would buy my magazine if the main colours where either blue or purple or even a mixture of the two.

9. do you prefer bands or solo artists?
- bands = 9 people
- solo artists = 10 people

conclusion: The most popular between solo artists and bands are the solo artists. This has given me more of am idea as to what the main image could be. As it has come up with the fact that solo artists are more popular it is more of an option to use a solo artist as my main images on my front cover.

10. do you like receiving a free gift with your magazine?
- yes = 19 people
- no = 0 people

conclusion: every person that I had given my questionnaire to had said that they would like to receive a free gift with there magazine, this told me that I should try and include a free gift with my magazine.

11. how much are you willing to pay for a magazine?
- £1.50 = 0 people
- £2.00 = 1 person
- £2.50 = 3 people
- £3.00 = 6 people
- £3.50 = 6 people
- other = 3 people

conclusion: Judging from the results that I have gathered I have found out that the average price that someone will pay for a magazine is £ 3.00 or £3.50, this is telling me that I can use one of these prices as my price for my pop magazine.

12. do you visit the magazine website?
- yes = 12 people
- no = 7 people

conclusion: This question shows that over half of the people who I gave my questionnaire in to, do visit the websites of the magazine. this tells me that I can put a website onto my front cover and contents page and maybe on my double page spread.

13. would you subscribe to the magazine?
- yes = 11 people
- no = 8 people

conclusion: this question has told me and let me know that I would be able to put subscription details onto the front cover of my magazine and my contents page. I can do this as more people told me that they would subscribe to to the magazine with eleven votes to yes. Only eight people said that they would not subscribe to the magazine.

14. would you buy a new magazine that was new to the market?
- yes = 14 people
- no = 4 people
- maybe = 1 person

conclusion: I will feel more confident if my magazine went on the market as fourteen out of nineteen people said that they would have bought a new magazine if it went on the market. There was only four people who said that they wouldn't buy a new magazine if it was put onto the market.

Main Task- Task One

The genre of muy magazine is going to be pop. The genre of the people that are going to be buying the magazine are going to be girls. This is becuase boys are not very likely to be buying pop magazines. The age that my target audience is going to be is ages 8-16. I have chosen this age as it is the age where most girls buy magazines.

Evaluation

In this evaluation i am going to talk about the problems that i encountered when coming to do my front cover and contents page of my school magazine. I am also going to be explaining how my magazine challenges and develops forms of real magazines and media products accoring to the codes and conventions.
There where many problems that i encounted from when i had to take my pictures until i was uploading my blog. The problems that i had to overcome when i was taking my pictures where that i hadnt planned all of my mise-en-scene out right. And also that because i wanted a 'New teacher' on the front cover of my magazine, but there wasnt many teachers that was willing to pose to be a new teacher on the front of my magazine. In the end i got a mathematics teacher to do it for me. Also when i came to uploadf pictures onto the blog neither the workplaces at home or at school would let me upload pictures. I could not overcome this as i had tried many times and each time would not let me.
My front cover had folowed the codes and contentions exept it didnt have a tag line. This was as i hadnt have time to think of one. As far as the contents page goes i have followed all of there codes and conventions besides the fact that the titles are in bold and i dint do that as i didnt remember to.
The media technology that i used where Quark express and Adobe Photoshop. Quark express was a brand new software for me to use, so it took me alot longer to get used to it. It took me longer to use Quark express than Adobe Photoshop.
The strengths of my media product are;
-The contents page doesnt have many images on so therefore there is more writing on it so it is more full and i have more content.
-The colour scheme was ironic as i chose blue and the name of the magazine is 'Cool Classrooms' and the connotations of Cool is blue.
The weaknesses of my media product are;
-The colour of the background as it is purple and it was just a colour chosen at random because it contasted with the light colour for my anchoring text.

Contents Page & Front Cover!

My Front Cover- finishing touches

Today i made the finishing touches to my front cover. During my time doing that i had to change the colour of my background to a more purified blue. I also had to change the colour of my shadow behind my writing saying Cool Classrooms.
This made a major improvement to what it was when i began doing the production.
I changed these things as i wanted to make it look more apealing towards my target audience.

front cover

To do our front cover we had to use the software Adobe Photoshop. This required skills that we had been taught from year ten and year eleven. To complete our front cover it took me around about one week. After we had completed our front cover we needed to complete a contents page. The contents page will be produced in Quark express.

Pliminary Sketches

Front cover and contents Page sketches!

Taking Photos

After we had done all of our theory work, we had to start taking photographs.
we had done a draft of our front cover and of our contents page. Then we made a list of all of the images that we needed to take.
Then the next lesson after the teachers had checked oour front cover and contents page we went and booked a camera out and took our pictures.
It took me two lessons to take my pictures as i had to get some teachers in my pictures so i have some pictures more difficult to take.
After i had taken the pictures i needed to upload them onto the computer, and give them names.

Monday, 5 October 2009

camera angle practise shots

During doing our theory we had a experiment and took some canera angle shots and, put caption with in on Microsoft word. Doing this enabled us to understand the differant shots and use them throughout our work. During doing our practise shots neither the work stations at home or at school would not let me upload the pictures to blogger.com.

Codes and Conventions.

Before we started to design our magazine for our school magazine we looked at the codes and conventions of a typical magazine. We worked in groups, we had examples of Contents page and we analysed them. The codes and conventions we came up with where:
contents page:
-Picture dominates it
-Set out in columns
-Editors letter
-Have little images
-Page number before story
-Website
-Titles in bold
-Contact number and address
-Regular content column
-Usually double page spread
-Line gap between each section
-Subcription details
-In type 11
-Issue number
-Sections
-Colour sceme
-Bright colours
Front Cover:
-Central image
-Puff
-Slogan
-Barcode
-Anchoring image
-Price
-Buzz
-Coverlines
-Title or logo
-Date
-Issue number
-Colour scheme
-Website
-Headline
-Supporting images
-Positioning statment

Task three- content

In this task i had to come up with a list of regular content that will appear in my new school magazine. I also had to come up with a list of 10 feature articles which will appear in my magazine. And finally i had to list the images iwth i would use on my contents page.
The regualr content that i had come up with are:
Dates for your diary,
Letter to Mr. Dyment,

Hororscopes,

Fashion.
The 10 feature articles that i had come uo with are:

Title name, and details

For this task i needed to create a title, where i am going to have all of my mise-en-scene for the front cover of my magazine and the coverlines for my magazine.
The name that i chose to use for my magazine is 'Cool Classrooms'. I had chose this by thinking of all of the words that would assosiate to school and then i made the name up.
The mise-en-scene i have chosen to use for my front cover of my magazine is just a normal working office with the 'new' teacher smiling and looking into the camera. I have stuck with the breif and have done a medium close up of my centeral image.
The coverlines that i chose to go onto my front cover are:
Ice radio goes live,
Bright lights big cities,
student sucess,
weatherhead wins and
reach for the stars.
i have chosen to use them for my coverlines because the are short snappy and catchy.
